Energos
The most comprehensive independent review available
of this proven process for managing MSW
Full Review:
This new report builds on an earlier review of the process conducted by Juniper in 2001. It reports the results of new analysis we have conducted of plant performance and reports additional data following the company’s recent change of ownership. Juniper has now also visited all the company’s reference sites
The Energos technology was developed in Norway with the objective of creating a small scale waste-to-energy process that could provide smaller communities with a cost effective alternative to large centralised ‘mass burn’ incineration. This is one of very few non-Japanese processes that has a substantial commercial track record. Yet there are potential areas of concern for anyone interested in using this technology. This report highlights and examines these topics, and draws clear conclusions on the implications for future projects. The report is based on site appraisals carried out by Juniper of all six Energos reference plants.

What’s in the review:
This is the most comprehensive review available of this process in the public domain. It analyses the current status of the process, and examines the issues which would be of most interest to potential customers. The company is currently offering a plant to a new design, which is as yet commercially unproven. Juniper examines the reasons for the changes and comments on the effectiveness of the new design. The review includes the following:
• Current commercial status
• Process performance
• Visual impact and plant footprint
• Advantages and disadvantages of the process
• Economics and cost data
• Juniper’s Opinion
