Feasibility Studies
We can provide a multi-disciplinary team to carry out a review of a project. Most of our feasibility work has been undertaken for organisations operating in the Waste Management Sector, where we have completed a number of independent reviews for project developers in several countries.
We advise on technology options, identify potential suppliers and organise pre-qualification assessment and tender processes. We also review business cases, including revenue streams and market demand; analyse project profitability and carry out sensitivity analysis.

Case Study 1

Juniper was asked by an industrial client involved in the oil sector to undertake a feasibility study for a waste-to-energy plant to be installed at one of their facilities in the UK. The initial scoping study identified types and amounts of waste that could be processed through the facility, identified any planning issues and considered the types of technology that could be used to process the waste. The second phase identified specific processes that could meet the project parameters, developed an outline process specification for discussion with potential equipment suppliers and obtained indicative capital costs for a number of processes. Juniper concluded that a number of gasification and pyrolysis technologies were attractive options for the client and that the project itself could be both a viable business in its own right and a valuable demonstrator for further facilities in other parts of the UK.

Case Study 2

Juniper was asked by a confidential client to examine the feasibility of a waste-to-energy plant being installed on their site instead of the waste being removed for disposal. The client, a major international company, was involved in a different industry sector, and wished to use Juniper’s independent perspective to assist them in whether or not a locally installed and operated plant would be viable for them to manage themselves. Juniper concluded that a small gasification or pyrolysis plant could meet their objectives and recommended a number of process suppliers for the client to contact.
