Case Study 5
This city in
Canada
has the world’s largest mixed waste composting facility. We were appointed to provide specialist advice on alternatives to incineration, especially gasification, to divert the compost residues from landfill and to recover resources from them.
Case Study 6
For these two separate UK Councils, Juniper provided a report on the commercial status, technical capabilities and environmental benefits of pyrolysis and gasification technologies relative to incineration. This review also considered the advantages and disadvantages of the use of several small-scale facilities versus one large facility and provided the Terms of Reference to the subsequent stages of their project. The report was tailored to address the two Council’s different approaches.

Case Study 7
For a UK County Council and its six District councils, we undertook a technical review of options for processing of the
MSW
arisings in the county and development of Strategic Options. The report provided the Terms of Reference for the next stage of their waste management strategy process. We were then commissioned to advise on the applicability of
MBT
type processes to help meet recycling and BPA performance targets.

Case Study 8
For this UK County Council, we provided a special briefing paper for Members which audited the conclusions of their future waste management infrastructure. Members were concerned about the risks and wanted a specialist opinion to alleviate their concerns.
Case Study 9
For this UK City Council, we were expert witness for their Scrutiny Committee which was considering their waste management strategy options.
Case Study 10
This UK Government department commissioned Juniper to produce an independent report to the parliament on the status and capabilities of alternative thermal treatment technologies relative to incineration.
Case Study 11
This County Council asked us to lead on a tour of
MBT
plants in
Europe
, by providing specialist advice to Members on how the plants actually operated. We recommended the plants to visit and accompanied the Members to each facility.
Case Study 12
Juniper was commissioned by this overseas Government to develop a future waste management strategy in the context of alternative technologies to the existing small waste incinerator. This involved an examination of the different waste streams and whether one facility or different facilities would be best for the long term future.
